Dear valued client,

I’m happy to announce that Medscripts now supports dictation capture from both the iPhone and iPad.  Any of your dictators wanting to dictate via those Apple devices can now do so.

We researched a number of apps available for moving audio file dictations from the iPhone and iPad to our system, and our IT team reports that the Dictamus app is by far the best one available.   Dictamus can be found at http://www.jotomi.com/dictamus.  Users can do a free trial of the app, and then purchase it for a price of $11.99.  Dictamus works by sending recorded audio files via a SSL/TLS encryption automatically, which is then accepted on our server in encrypted format.

Setting up the dictator’s iPhone or iPad with Dictamus is easy.  Simply open the “App Store” on your Apple device, and search for “Dictamus.”  Once installed, let us know your dictator’s name so we can add an FTP folder to our server to receive incoming files. To complete the set-up, the dictator just adds our ftp server address  where indicated, along with a username and password we’ll provide.

Please note: for HIPAA compliance, the dictator needs to make sure that “Implicit SSL” is set to ON, and then under Advanced, set “Verify SSL certs” to OFF. Because we utilize a self-signed certificate, we require that this verification is turned off.
